AI-Powered Voice Cloning (Deepfake) Scams at an All-Time High

Cyber fraudsters are no longer bothering with writing long and suspicious emails; they are directly cloning the voices of company executives! Thanks to the latest advancements in AI-based "Deepfake" technology, cybercriminals can now use just a few seconds of a CEO's voice recording from a social media post or a webinar to flawlessly imitate their tone, intonation, and even their speaking style.

The way the system works is quite frightening: An employee in the accounting or finance department answers the phone and hears the voice of a company executive directly. This voice, generated instantaneously by AI, asks the employee to urgently transfer a large amount of money to a specific account for a "secret company acquisition" or an "urgent international invoice." Acting out of panic and under the pressure of authority, employees can unfortunately cause millions in financial losses for the company within seconds. Experts emphasize that the "zero trust" principle must now be adopted in business processes and that even verbal approvals should be verified through different communication channels (for example, via a written messaging application).
Some of the precautions we need to take to protect against these types of attacks include:
Do not open emails from untrusted sources.
Use multi-factor authentication (MFA).
Keep your system updated to the latest version at all times.
Monitor login logs regularly.
Track the security of mobile devices.
