Hyundai Europe is the Latest Ransom Victim of Black Basta

January by the Russia-linked Black Basta ransomware gang.
The experienced ransomware gang is said to have compromised around 3TB of data from the Germany-based division.
According to a November 2023 report by Elliptic and Corvus Insurance, Black Basta is believed to be an offshoot of the notorious Conti ransomware gang and has allegedly obtained at least more than $100 million in Bitcoin ransom payments since the start of 2022.
According to Bleeping Computer, which first reported the story, Hyundai first discovered an IT issue affecting systems in January.
"Trust and safety are the foundation of Hyundai's business, and our priority is to protect our customers, employees, investors and partners," Hyundai said in a statement, adding that it is investigating this latest breach with cybersecurity and legal experts and that the relevant authorities have been notified.
