An international cybercriminal organization has carried out a massive ransomware attack, encrypting the data of many large companies and demanding ransom. This event has deeply affected both the tech world and the global business community.

In August 2024, several major companies around the world were hit by a ransomware attack. Attackers infiltrated companies' data systems, encrypted critical information and demanded a high ransom in exchange for its release. The group said to be behind the attack used a new ransomware strain called “NovaLock”. This ransomware was more advanced than previous attack methods.

Many of the companies that were attacked had to temporarily halt their operations. Some of the companies opted to pay a ransom, while others turned to data recovery and system reconfiguration. This had a negative impact on companies' finances, customer trust and brand reputation.

In the aftermath of the attack, companies and governments started to take various measures. Many companies updated their cybersecurity protocols and developed more effective threat detection and response systems. It was also emphasized that non-payment of ransom and data recovery strategies should be reviewed.

To prevent such attacks and enhance cybersecurity, companies and individuals should consider several key strategies:

  1. Regular Backups: Regularly backing up data helps minimize data loss in the event of an attack.

  2. Strong Security Protocols: Well-configured firewalls and up-to-date antivirus software can help prevent potential threats.

  3. Awareness Training: Educating employees about cybersecurity can help reduce human errors.

  4. Attack Testing and Simulations: Conducting regular cybersecurity tests and simulations can prepare for potential attacks.
